Sophie & Sunflowers

Each morning on the way to work, Neal & I pass a huge field of sunflowers. And each morning I say, "I have to get some pictures of those sunflowers before they're gone". Tonight was beautiful, so, off Sophie and I went to Waterfront Park for a photo session.

While I snapped pictures, Sophie was content to sniff around, stopping once and awhile to take in the scenery. It's often difficult to take pictures while holding a dog on a leash. Many of my photos look like action shots, because there's a hound tugging at my arm while I'm trying to steady the camera.

Sunflowers are my favorite! They give me something to look forward to at the end of summer. As all of the other flowers start to wilt & fade, sunflowers give us a burst of color.

Too bad sunflowers can't make the days longer.

Everyone Loves a Picnic

Sophie Bobbing for Hotdogs
Tutu Watching the Races

We took our girls to our annual Volunteer Recognition/Greyhound Reunion Picnic last Sunday. As usual, it was a blast. Everyone has fun seeing all the dogs together and watching them participate in the games. Who can resist watching dogs bob for hotdogs or participate in the rooing contest...and we are never able to squeeze in, all the people that want their dogs to "fun run". As always, we had a yummy potluck & perfect weather. What a grey't way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Tutu On Tour

Tutu had a fair bit of excitement on Saturday...a drive in the car, and a picnic. Neal & I (& Tutu) drove to Browns Flat to meet some of his family members for a picnic at Beulah Campground. Since the festivities were outside, we opted to bring one of our furry family members.

Tutu, loves a crowd. Actually, L-O-V-E-S a crowd. Normally, when we bring her anywhere it's like we are celebrities. By being such a diva, she really makes an appearance. Crowds don't faze her & there is just never enough attention. I'm sure that in another life, she must have been an entertainer. We are actually considering having her tested for suitability as a Therapy Dog. I think that she would very much enjoy a second career. Her first job as a racer ended in 2006 after a toe injury.

Salty Sea Dog

Today, Neal & I took Cruce to the beach. Of our 4 dogs, he is the only one that truly loves it. The others will tolerate it, just because they like road trips with their humans.

It is ironic however, that since the beginning of July we have had no precipitation. Today, Mother Nature took pity on our new sod & decided to rain...while we were at the beach.
